Prof. Asoc Enkelejda Gjinali
Prof. Asoc Enkelejda Gjinali is a lecture at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Polytechnic University of Tirana. She has received her doctorate in the field of water treatment (2009) and for more than 29 years she has contributed to the development of the water sector in Albania and the Western Balkans. During her career, she has provided expertise at various levels of water sector governance in Albania and the region, providing capacity development and support for organizational, legal, financial and technical reforms.
Prof. Gjinali also works as an expert for the project “EU Support and ADA for Integrated Water Resources Management”, dedicated to AMBU. Prof. Gjinali has contributed to the drafting of the National Water Supply and Sewerage Strategies of Albania, 2011-17 and 2019-27″, has been the Delegated Representative of the Netherlands in support of the Technical Secretariat of the National Water Council in Albania (2016-17), has supported local capacity development and decentralization of water services, through USAID “Local Government Planning Project” (2016-19). In 2017, Prof. Gjinali was involved in the technical evaluation of the assistance provided by the Swiss Government to the water sector in Kosovo. In the same year, she worked on the implementation of the Dutch Recommendations for Water Resources Management in the country and throughout the Balkan region. Previously, she has worked as a Manager and later as a Chief Advisor of the GIZ Water Program in Albania (2003-13), where she also contributed to collaboration projects with Kosovo, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia.
