Biography
Mr. Giel Verbeeck is a financial economist with a Master degree from the University of Amsterdam as well as the Central European University. He has got 23 years of experience in the water and sanitation sector in Europe, Asia and Africa. He has worked on corporate development with dozens of large and small utilities. He has specialised in FAST™ tariff and financial models and was an early adoptor and investor in Openbox modelling software. Giel has also published research on utility development, pro-poor social measures, investment and economic regulatory system development.
Giel supports policy makers, IFIs and utilities in maximising the socio-economic impact of limited resources. He advocates blended finance as a means to accelerate investment, especially from domestic savings into the WSS sector.
