Ljupka Dimoska Zajkov
Biography
Ljupka Dimoska Zajkov has over 23 years of experience at the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, where she has served as Deputy Head of the Department of Waters since 2015. She is an expert in water law and EU water Acquis, with extensive knowledge in legislative development and institutional frameworks for water management in North Macedonia.
With more than 21 years of experience in transposing EU environmental directives, Ljupka has contributed to drafting water legislation, conducting gap analyses, and leading integrated river basin management projects. She has played a key role in implementing EU directives related to water quality monitoring and is actively involved in international projects.
Ljupka is also the National Focal Point for several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators and a coordinator for water reforms under North Macedonia’s Economic Reform Programme (ERP). With more than 20 years of experience in data collection, monitoring, and reporting on water resources. Furthermore, Ljupka has over 20 years of experience in aligning and implementing the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and EU directives to enhance water monitoring and reporting in Macedonian legislation. She is a member of the working group developing the Strategic Plan for the Rehabilitation of Lake Ohrid and serves as the coordinator for the European Investment Bank (EIB) loan for water supply and sewage network projects in North Macedonia.
